Funny wall papers

In Korea, there are a lot of different wall papers but usually people use ordinary wall papers that are repetition patterns such as flowers or shapes. However, Vietnam does not has many wall papers because they have got just one season that is summer so often they paint their walls. This is very creative wall papers. Especially I love second one that contains very humanistic idea. Actually, we do not care about our house wall because it looks always some but these ideas make to look at small things that was not cared anybody. I think the clear or create ideas come from around of our environment so now we have to look at it a little bit seriously.

Sketching

This is my assignment 3 sketching. I had chosen 'Carnival of souls' that is horror and mystery movie. So, I wanted to describe the main actor's feeling which is fearful and frightful.
Also, I divided 4parts for containing the story. the first part is running from fear and second part is describing her emotion through her close up face. third part is little bit similar to first part but different expression. final part is the highlight of this movie that people who already died dance.

My diary

I think, writing diary started way back when I was in my elementary years. It was our school assignment. We must have at least one journal a day. It all started as a task to fulfill but later on, I get used to it. During my middle and high school years I had felt I needed to write something to relieve my teenage stress. Especially during high school days, life was tough on those years of growing up. The feeling was uncontrollable and unpredictable. So then, I started keeping journal and I wrote all my good days and bad days including family, friends, and school problem. Writing diary in those times is a bit different and yet the same way but, now It is less emotional and more on artistic point of view. My diary these days does not much involve words to express something but its more of colors, pictures, design patterns to show my thoughts. This diary is one of my design diaries when I was about 22. That time also just ordinary day but sudden I felt that I’m not alone I have my family so I just memorized my feeling through illustrator software.

Do you believe in ghost?

They are truly creepy. When you look at it, your hair would surely go up and make you shiver. Pictures like this would give you nightmares that gives you many sleepless nights and would be very afraid to stay in the dark. Some even are very afraid to turn off the light thinking that something might come out of the dark. Ghosts are so spooky that it became famous all over the world. Some even collect pictures, videos. After looking at these pictures were you afraid????? My advice to you is that you should not be because this is only a product of graphic design. They are famous fake ghost images, after learning about the truth maybe you might be disappointed or relieved that it was not true but will begin to be amazed. Because the images you have seen is the product of modern day technology. Nowadays everything is possible; everything can be recreated through Photoshop. Fictional or factual idea can be created. Ideas in our mind can be well express through computer so, next time when you see images of sort, think again… Is it for real or just a work of technology?

A Cleaver advertising

Today, all over the world advertising is the most powerful weapon. So, many advertising companies concentrate on how to make more creative AD and how can they offer to the audience how to impart a big impression. I have a clever ad that is a just match box. To compare with an ordinary match box, we can identify some of differences that are strong sexual appeal to settle down the audience’s brain. The picture can bring humorous part and sexual part so it balances these two parts and make a big impression. Furthermore, recently, match is not used because using lighter is more convenient but if we have this match box, it will be more attractive than lighters.

3. Ctrl+U, click Colorize: Hue(0)/Saturation(50)/Lightness(0)
4. Add layer mask
5. Click gradient tool on toolbox with white and black background
6. Drag the top of apple to middle

Assignment 2B (Welfare poster)

This is my second assignment which is the social welfare poster. I had chosen topic that is using condoms because this topic is very commonly mentioned in every country and somehow it is necessary to use for protecting against AIDS. However, I really considered about the visual effect and typography to the audience. So, I decided showing condoms a little bit humorous that looks like balms and I focused on the women side of view to say “Women love safety!”

Walbaum (The best creative romanticism font in German)

Nowadays, we could see typography everywhere in our life. We may not notice them but they are alive and it is with us for a long time. I would like to give some momentous about person who became very influential in typography.

Tate Liverpool Gallery, Eiichi Kono, in1986, England

Early 19th century, Erich Walbaum designed new type of font, which is called Walbaum. Walbaum, Didon style, was designed with Bonia and Firmin Didot. In late 18th century, Romain du roi, designed by Louis XIV in 1700, published to impact in France and Italy. Romain du roi was drawn mathematical and artificial beauty font. However, Didone style does not have any serif and a horizontal stroke and a vertical stroke meets a right angle. This style is geometrical and mathematical but no more leftover penmanship style. Appearance and popularity of Walbaum caused by a great contrast of tine stroke, a typography development, and social culture’s changing.

Self Portrait

This work is my assignment#2 portrayed myself by electronic machines. So, I simply thought what am I and then I realized that the things should be used everyday around of me because when I like it or need it, it also would be a part of me. Therefore, all my pictures are taken by me and I just figured out those pictures on right position of my face.

My face background was became the motorbike’s wheel due to it is very important part that in Vietnam I usually take the motorbike and I love to ride it. I chose the computer mouse for my eye because when I see something on computer, it automatically clicks. The other stuffs are also relative with my life.

Reflection my work

I have been studying design almost a year. I had a lot of assignments for designing something or writing reports but it was not often reviewed after finishing the project so, this time, I tried to reflect on one of my work in the first semester. This is my visual diary which expressed or described my feeling and principles. That time, working was really good time to think about myself and my environment because I should think what’s going on and what’s around me. Finally, the most important thing is that I had the passion to learn and design something. I must keep that in mind and try to achieve my goal.

Research for the public welfare posters

Searching material is very important step for starting or doing your project because you might get their ideas or internalize more data for your work. There are many clever welfare posters all over the world. First poster is against drinking drive a car. This one is the most brilliant idea due to designer focus on a drinker’s standpoint so people can grasp easily the message of poster. It is simple but it has a strong impact.

Second poster is an Anti-AIDS campaign. It shows a pretty obvious visualization of the message that AIDS does not spare anyone. It could be everybody if not protected.

The last is made from Korea and the message of this poster is not to waste food. The food we eat is also money, if we could see our food as money, would we just throw it away??

Fonts exercise

This exercise is very good for how to choose perfect fonts to articles because every articles have own their emotion so we must seriously consider about choosing fonts.

I chosen ‘mood’ word and I tried to play 3 different styles and fonts, playful, blue and romantic. I concentrated to focus on matching style and font. It was really hard work due to there are more then a thousand fonts and you have to choose correct one. Also, I realized the color is the secondly important one.

Pixel work

I saw Tuan’s blog which mentioned about pixel work. It was quite interesting for me and then I just tried to make pixel work. This work is unlike with victor graphic so every pixels must have individual color and the shapes.

Those skills depend on looks more professional or not. So in my work, I wanted to express myself as a fox because I heard that I look like a fox. Does it look like me???

ABSTRACT-GRUNGE

This skill is very useful in Graphic design and also the other field. While I was researching for something in BB, suddenly I found out this one. It includes guide lines so everybody can easily follow and practice same as me. I strongly recommend this skill and also one more thing, please regularly visit BB. There are a lot of information especially we really need. And play it!!

Orchid Exercise

Today we studied about how to clip in image and how the shadow affects an object. So, our first exercise is designing a name card. I used one of the picture of an orchid and clipped a single flower using pen tool. I tried to focus on how does it clearly show the information to audience so I tried to highlight for those two things.

Gestalt Exercise 2

Everyday we learn about something, but most the important thing is that learning does not include actual practices. In the actual practice we learn to experiment using all the rules and I found out many possibilities of inventing new type of design. So, I wanted to practice more about the layout design. This is my second Gestalt exercise. Actually, last Thursday, some of very important rules about designing layout was learned seriously. So, I tried to follow this rules and using one of the Gestalt concept. I chose two concepts which are combination and similarities. In my layout, the shapes are all circles but it has two main types of differences.
I designed, firstly one type of circle is for body text and secondly the another circle is for the flower pictures.

Gestalt Exercise

Today our lecture was about the Gestalt theory. This is very important basic concepts, Closure, Continuance, Similarity, Proximity and Combine, for design students.
Also, we had an exercise in using one of the these concepts in designing layout. My design concept is Closure and the main shape is circle. The idea came from the picture so I designed the body text that looks like part of the main picture’s shape. In addition, I used two different fonts for the title and body text.

The Power of color

Which color is your favorite? I like green because green makes me relax and fresh. However, have you ever thought about the power of color? As you know, color has two temperatures, usually warm and cold. The warm colors are red, yellow and orange. On the other hand, the opposite side colors are blue and green. How about if we use those colors, warm and cold color, beside each other, in that way we can see the great movement. Actually, one of the warm color feature is extended.

Let’s look at my example color mixing.
I used two colors, orange and blue. We could noticed that yellow color is more extended then blue color. It surely can see the pattern of this blocks. Our eyes naturally see the yellow color is front and then the blue color is a little of behind so the movement is occurred in these two patterns.

That is the power of color!!

Just use different colors and make amazing movement!!!

When I saw these pictures in a website, I was very amazed how genius the artist is. It is like we don’t know which picture is first.
Firstly when we see the pictures, our brain automatically follows order by order but the last picture was shown, every body are confused about picture because we can not organize which is the first.
